TAMING OF THE SHREW ALTERNATE READING ASSIGNMENT
In the range Taming Of The Shrew by William Shakespeare, Katherine was tamed by her husband, Petruchio. Katherine is a younker girl with a very bad temper. Shes feisty, mean and doesnt homogeneous many other people. She marries a man by the look up of Petruchio and he tried hard to tame her like a shrew. This means that he was going to try and make her not so rebellious and tough. She went from being a mean transverse girl to becoming an obedient wife.
One example of this is from mold 3, Scene II. Katherine and Petruchio have just got married to each other. Petruchio is rum during his conjugation. When asked to stay he says he has to leave and Katherine goes off on him. She says I will be angry: what hast thou to do? Shes unfeignedly angry about him leaving and shes asking what hell do to make her happy. This is the kind of thing that was constantly going on around the beginning/middle of the play. But to ward the end of the play, its pellucid she has been tamed by Petruchio. In Act 5, Scene II Katherine is talking explaining to a young widow about marriage and respect. She says And not obedient to his honest will.
What is she but a unsportsmanlike contending rebel, And graceless traitor to her loving lord? I am ashamed that women are so simple To offer war where they should kneel for peace. This demonstrates of her being tamed. She explains about how a woman should make out to her husband. Shes saying that its bad of how women purposely disagree with their husbands when all they really have to do is appropriate not complain and get along...
