Genetics
Chapter 1
Terms:
1. Genetics- the study of biological sciences.
2. Genes- the transmitted unit defined experimentally by the complementation test. Genes pick out all genetic material in regions/segments of desoxyribonucleic paneling
3. Chromosomes- a desoxyribonucleic acid speck that contains gees in linear order to which numerous proteins ar bound and that has a telomere at each end and a centromere.
4. Transformation- change in the genotype of a cell or organism resulting from exposure of the cell or organism to DNA isolated from a different genotype.
5. Bacteriophage- A virus that infects bacterial cells
6. Nucleotides- a nucleoside phosphate
7. Adenine- a nitrogenous purine base found in DNA and ribonucleic acid.
8. Guanine- a nitrogenous purine base found in DNA and RNA.
9. Cytosine- a nitrogenous pyrimidine base found in DNA and RNA
10. Thymine- a nitrogenous pyrimidine base found in DNA and RNA
11. Complementary base pairing- regions of nucleic acid molecules whose nucleotides can tolerate Watson-Crick base pairing.
12. Double Helix- composed of nucleotides in a right(a) hand matterâ¦each nucleotide contains any star(a) of the four chemical bases, G, A, T, U.
13. Polarity-the 5-to-3 orientation of a base of nucleic acid.
14.
Anitparallel- the chemical orientation of the two stands of a double-stranded nucleic acid molecule; the 5-to-3 orientation of the two strands are opposite one another.
15. Replication- the semiconservative copying of a DNA molecule
16. Template- a strand of nucleic acid whose base chronological succession is copied in a polymerization response to produce either a complementary DNA or an RNA stand.
17. Amino Acids- any one of a set of organic molecules that have an amino group and a carboxyl group
18. Polypeptides- a polymer of amino acids linked together by a peptide bond
19. Central Dogma- the concept that genetic information is transferred from the nucleotide sequence in DNA to the nucleotide sequence in an RNA transcript to the amino acid sequence of a polypeptide...If you extremity to get a full essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
