Some critics view hamlet as clever, and disguising his lunacy to carry step to the fore his revenge. small towns madness was not because he was insane but because he was wild. Hamlet was angry with all the people that betrayed and played him. With all the enraged angriness at Gertrude, his mother, marrying the murderer of his drive, the murderer of his father, Claudius, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern spying on him, and Ophelia not conversing with him.
The characters in the play that betray and inject the angriness in to madness speak the only quotes that show the insanity in Hamlet. All these quotes are false because the impression that Hamlet gives us is just part of the patch that he, successfully but not the way that was planned, carries out for revenge. Critics do not give plenteous credit to Hamlet for being clever and misleading. Hamlets appearance as Gertrude states mad as the sea and bakshish (4.1.2) is just a cover up. Hamlet accomplishes his disguise as being insane for the reason that everyone is convinced until the end and his plot could be achieved if he had not been poisoned. Otherwise he would be King Hamlet like was intended.
