The Emancipation Proclamation was one of the key documents to gaining equal rights. The document initially freed the slaves from the states that the northeasterly beat in the war. A portion of the slaves that were freed from each state were expected to join the northwestwards army. After the war the slaves were then allowed to live on their own terms. It is my opinion that if it werent for the Emancipation Proclamation the southern would have stood a better chance at whacking the North.
The Gettysburg Address was one of Lincolns most far-famed rescuees. The speech he gave was to honor the people that died in the civil war.
